How I work

Because Ayurveda emphasizes balance in all areas of your life, I don’t only focus on your body, but will take an extensive personal and medical history, including questions about daily diet, lifestyle, profession and working conditions, exercise routines, relationships and your mental health.

Knowing all these aspects helps me to identify the root cause of your problems, the imbalances in your body and accordingly determine a personalized treatment plan best suitable for you.

The human body is quite complex, every function is intricately connected with another. A digestion problem can be related to stress, sleep deprivation or bad elimination or both. The pain in the body might be because of inactivity, obesity or bad posture. The insomnia can be caused by an irregular lifestyle, anxiety, poor diet or depression. So, a single problem might trace back to a different source or sources. In Ayurveda when we treat the source, the symptoms disappear. During a consultation I identify your doshic imbalance and then develop a customized treatment plan that best suits you.

Aside of a very detailed intake, I also make use of tongue and pulse diagnosis.

Using pulse diagnosis, I can determine

  • The original mental and physical constitution of the patient and their doshas
  • Any imbalance in the doshas and sub- doshas
  • The state of Agni (digestive fire, metabolic activity)
  • Any abnormal mental or physical activity

Through the use of the tongue diagnosis, I can determine

  • Internal organ’s health
  • Vata, Pitta or Kapha state or imbalance
  • Presence of toxins and needs of detox
  • Tension and emotions held in spine and shoulders
  • Anemia and cirtulation
  • Malabsorption
  • Inflammation
  • Parasitic infection

Tongue is called a window of the inner system. Ayurveda says, read your tongue and you will know how healthy you are. It is important to check your tongue regularly to recognize the imbalances in your system.

Lifestyle

Lifestyle is the way we live our lives. Lifestyle is the work we do, what we eat, the way we exercise, how we behave, how we spend our free time, holidays and how we relate to others. Lifestyle is profoundly related to our needs and to our emotions. This is why lifestyle has a very strong relationship to our sense of happiness and wellbeing.

Research shows that living a healthy lifestyle can help prevent long-term illnesses. Feeling good about yourself and taking care of your physical and mental health is important for your self-esteem. But what is the best lifestyle for us? Where to start?

Ayurveda can help you answer these questions. The best lifestyle for you is linked to your own personal constitution and the rhythms of nature. Maintaining a lifestyle according to your constitution is doing what is right for your body and mind every day and every season.

During an Ayurvedic consultation, you will find out what daily routine or dinacharya is best suitable for you. I will also give you handy tips and tricks to manage your energy every time the seasons change. In Ayurveda, this is called ritucharya. Following your own dinacharya and ritucharya will work wonders in your life.

Abhyanga

Abhyanga is a rhythmic massage that has been practiced for thousands of years. It is done with warm medicinal oil. The oil is applied to the entire body, from the scalp to the soles of your feet.

Several scientific studies have found that a massage has numerous health benefits, especially when done with oil and in a proper, rhythmic manner. Abhyanga encourages the body to increase the production of endorphins – the happiness hormones – that are associated with feeling good.

During Abhyanga the body also increases the production of dopamine, which is produced when we feel satisfied, resulting in feeling happy, and oxytocin which is the love hormone!
